Mine isn't as supportive as I thought it was. And as far as that goes, pray for me because we need to talk and when we do we will explain our thoughts and feelings to each other fully and at the end I will have to abide by his decision. So pray that God opens his eyes to the truth.
Anyway, I want to know what your husband or wife thinks about your "new" lifestyle. Do they support you? Are they opposed? Or do they join you? tell me how you and your spouse started and what you both do about it now. I would really love to read your stories. And maybe I can figure out how to get through this with my husband as well.
Life would be simple if we ate the same but we dont. No big deal though, as our marriage does not center around food.
When God led me to eat raw, it did not matter if DH joined me or not. I follow Gods voice. If my DH wants to shorten his life by following the ways of the world that is his choice. It is not my place to tell him what to do, but it is my place to take care of my temple of the Holy Spirit.
My DH never smoked, but if he did, I would not buy him his cigarettes, nor would I light it up for him and put it in his mouth. This is the same as if I fed him SAD food, I wont feed him poison.

I am one of the fortunate ones. Over 11 years ago, my husband and I both read about the H.diet. It made so much sense to both of us. We started changing our diets right then and there. Over the years we've gone back and forth do to different reasons, but we never doubted what we learned. So now, for the past 15 months, I have been on the H.diet and so have my children. My husband completely respects the diet and eats what ever is at home. However, he works in a restaurant and is tempted all the time. Sometimes he gives in, but he really wants to not give in. So I always pray for strength for him to do G-d's will in his life. I too realize I need to do what I need to do for my health, my temple, regardless of what others are doing, but I sure would love everyone to eat/live this way
My children do amazing on this diet. Its really all they've known (for the most part). I don't have any issues of rebellion or fighting or attitudes. They truely love eating this way. But whats not to like about vegan waffles, pancakes, enchalada, tostadas, pizza, spaghetti, roasted veggies, yummy soups, whole grain breads...fresh out of the oven, etc. They also snack on whole fresh fruits when they're hungry, and love eating guac. with raw crackers, veggie sticks, or with beans. They also love soaked raw oats served with a berry "milk" and chopped nuts for breakfast or fruit smoothies.
There is just so much to enjoy on this diet, most people would enjoy it if they gave it a chance.
Shalom rav (abundant Peace!) Cathy

I too have a wonderful husband who is supportive on this lifestyle. We have been doing this for less than a year, but do it whole heartedly. We both looked at this lifestyle 2 years ago, and gave in to the pressures of outsiders who eat SAD.
Both of us had health issues that required us to look back at God's word and this lifestyle and really look at what we need to be doing. This is the way we should be living and although we aren't perfect, we are doing it.
The key for us was to make up our mind that this IS what we believe is right and then take that first step and not look back. We are still around the same people, but this time we just smile at them and say it again. We have chosen to be raw vegan, because we believe it is right! Most people won't argue with us if we say it is what we believe.
We will pray for you and your husband. Especially for your husband to be open to this for you, even if he doesn't accept it right away. Do you do Bible Studies together? God has given us this lifestyle, but He doesn't force it on us. It is not critical for our salvation. We get to choose what we will do. But with all choices we get outcomes. Maybe you could read together Numbers 11 and ask hubby to help you understand the outcome of not choosing the vegan lifestyle.
Blessings

Well, this is day three for us, so I can tell you how it is going so far. My husband has suddenly found his health to be of great concern, to the point where our oldest daughter is really ragging on him about all of the garbage he eats. He has not seen the seminar that I saw on video, but he has seen how serious I am about eating this way. So, he is graciously eating whatever I give him at home. Now, he still stopped and got a chicken sandwich for lunch yesterday, lol, but it is better i suppose than the big macs he was eating two or three times a day! (He works as a refrigerator repairman, so he is on the road all day long.) I think that as I am able to educate him as I become educated, he will make the switch completely. My challenge is to keep the food interesting. I have always loved cooking and finding new dishes to create. Now I just need to keep it vegan.
I never imagined we would be doing this, especially together. I am psyched!!!!!
Hi Pinky, My DH is eating the HA diet with me, although I'm more "high" raw like Beany. At hospitals, there is more junk food sitting around than you can imagine, so lots of temptation. He has his times where he falls off the wagon for a day or so, but not severely and he does know this is God's best. We are agreed on that.
Now, Pinky, there have been times during our 30plus years of marriage that I was following God and His Word and DH was not. I had to make a decision. Was I going to obey God or go the easy way just because my DH didn't agree? I stayed strong, was sweet to him BUT I obeyed God whether he agreed or not. God worked it out always! It is not my job to "make" my husband live according to God's Word but God expects me to obey it unquestionably in MY life and with MY own body.
It would be awesome if your DH agreed, but make up your mind whether he does or never ever does, you are going to obey God with whatever He tells you to do. God seems to honor that boldness, that determination and that steadfastness and then He will take care of your husband. I hope this helps. Just love your DH and obey God with what He tells you to do to with your own diet.
All the very best to you. I will join with everyone here and pray hard for your husband, that it won't be long until he absolutely is crazy about the idea of the HA diet and finds it delicious!
Lamplighter, CONGRATULATIONS ! Hey your husband sounds a lot like mine once was. He loved his food. He had to have a mild heart attack (actually I need to quit saying that, cuz our friend who is a cardiologist says there is no such thing as a "mild" heart attack) before he decided to get some self-control over his eating. Bottom line that is really what it is. We are living in a culture today where the words "self-control" are hardly mentioned, ever notice that? LOL. It takes awhile for your palate to get adjusted to having real food, not the food full of MSG, salt, processed stuff, etc. His palate is used to that, so give him time. Hey, there are really delicious recipes on HA site and on this forum. We are all here to help.
DAY THREE - YIPPEE!!! You are doing great. Hey, as he sees the difference in YOU he will also be more encouraged than ever. You won't have to say much - he'll just begin to really desire to have YOUR energy, YOUR bright and shiny eyes, YOUR radiant skin and YOUR fitness.

He disagrees with the vegan/vegetarian aspect of it, but he has been instrumental in introducing me to all kinds of veggies I previously wouldn't eat. He is encouraging, though, and has been buying lots of produce.

To be able to have a logical debate one must have knowledge. Have all of you read up on the health hazards of meat and dairy? Can you tell a person why you dont need to get your protein from meat and dairy? Do you know why children should not drink cows milk? Do you know where you get your calcium from?
We have information on some of these questions and there is the whole net. for hundreds of other question that could be answered.
If you get into a discussion unprepared you will definitely lose. Remember, Satan knows what you dont know.
